Discovery Welcome New Head of School

MANSFIELD -- Discovery School has announced the appointment of Simon Clark as the new Head of School for the 2023-2024 school year.
Simon Clark has been the assistant Head of School for the past five years. During that time he has built strong relationships with the staff, students and parents. He will take over from the current Head of School, Julie Schwartz, who will be moving to a new position at the Ohio Bird Sanctuary in July.

"We are excited to have Simon take on this new role as the Head of School," said Margaret Black, Chairperson of the Board at Discovery School. "His extensive experience in elementary education and dedication to our school community make him the ideal person to lead us into the future."

School officials said Clark has been an integral part of Discovery School's growth and development over the past five years.

During this time, he has worked closely with faculty, staff, and parents to ensure that students receive an exceptional education and that the school's mission - “To provide each child the educational opportunity to discover, with perseverance and imagination, the joy of learning and the interconnectedness of the world” are upheld.

"I am thrilled to take on this new role and lead Discovery School into its next phase of growth and development," Clark said. "I have built strong relationships with our school community, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to provide an outstanding education for our students."

As the new Head of School, Simon will oversee all aspects of the school's operations, including academic programs, extracurricular activities, and community outreach. He will work closely with the faculty and staff to maintain the school's high standards of excellence as well as maintaining their accreditation as an International Baccalaureate World School and Ohio Wild School Site.
