NEW! Assistant Head of School
The Assistant Head of School provides leadership, guidance, and support to the Head of School in managing the day-to-day operations of Discovery School. The Assistant Head of School works closely with faculty, staff, parents, and students to ensure a safe, nurturing, and intellectually stimulating environment for all members of the school community. This position begins August 1, 2023.

Responsibilities:
Assist the Head of School in developing and implementing the school's strategic plan, policies, and procedures
Support the Head of School in overseeing the International Baccalaureate PYP, including curriculum development, assessment, and student progress monitoring
Collaborate with the Head of School to conduct formal and informal evaluations of staff members
Serve as a liaison between the Head of School and faculty, staff, parents, and other stakeholders, promoting open communication and transparency, including through weekly email updates and blog posts.
Provide supervision and support to faculty and staff, including professional development, learning meetings, mentoring and team teaching.
Assist in planning and executing school events, including admissions events, student-led conferences, and school-wide celebrations
Act as a role model and advocate for the school's values, mission, and vision through community outreach and social media updates
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School, including, but not limited to:
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in education or related field
Minimum of 5 years of teaching and/or administrative experience in an independent school setting
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices in curriculum design and instruction
An awareness of legal and regulatory requirements for independent schools
Commitment to the mission and values of Discovery School
