The foundation for a lifelong love of learning is laid in childhood—the age of discovery. At Discovery  School, an independent, non-profit school, our goal is the development of self-motivation and the stimulation of natural curiosity. These are the building blocks for lifelong learning. Our students are encouraged to explore new challenges by taking productive risks and experimenting with ideas in a safe and nurturing environment.

Congratulations to Rohan Joshi, winner of Discovery School’s first annual school spelling bee. Rohan’s next step on the way to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., will be the semi-final round, a 50-word online test. If he scores high enough, Rohan will go on to compete in the 2012 Ohio University Scripps College of Communication Regional Spelling Bee on March 10, 2012. The competition at our first bee was fierce, with 16 total students from grades one through eight competing for the opportunity to move on to the next round. Our final four spellers, remarkably, were 2 second graders and 2 seventh graders, with second grader Connor O’Brien taking third place overall! Our second place winner, also a seventh grader, was Jackson Schultz.
